Optometric Technicians assist doctors of optometry with a variety of tasks in conducting eye examinations. All team members work together in a caring and enthusiastic environment to help patients achieve their best possible vision. Opticare will train the right person to work as an Optometric Technician.

Responsibilities

• Record patient medical history and review of systems
• Conduct eye exam pre-testing including visual acuities, blood pressure, color vision, eye pressure, and evaluation of current glasses and contact lenses
• Perform additional eye testing including field screening, retinal photography, and optical coherence tomography (OCT)
• Assist patients with proper care and use of contact lenses
• Maintain electronic health record charting
• Review services and fees with each patient
• Maintain stock contact lens inventory and order contact lenses for patients
• Re-stock supplies in examination rooms
• Assist with cleaning ocular instrumentation
• Take triage calls to determine urgency and type of appointment to schedule

Experience and Skills

• Exceptional people skills, dependability, enthusiasm, and caring attitude required
• Optometric Technician experience preferred but not required
• Experience with both contact lenses and glasses preferred
• Familiarity in working with a variety of instrumentation/equipment preferred
• Ability to use a variety of computer programs
